Wiki

The wiki holds the articles curated from your Inbox, and the receipts. Each article has a title, an optional category, tags, its text, and the sources it was built from. Every change is kept as a version. Articles are encrypted, and only the members of your space can see them.

To open it, select Brain Bank on your dashboard. The wiki is headed Brain Bank too.

Find an article

  • Type words in the search box and select Search. It looks in titles, text, categories and tags, and ignores capitals and macrons.

  • Or open the Showing bar, which says what the list shows (such as “By category · All categories”), then choose:

    • View: Category groups articles by category, Newest lists the newest first, and Updated lists the most recently changed first;
    • Category, to see one category;
    • Include receipts, to list receipts too.

    Then select Filter.

The View you choose is remembered in this browser, so the Brain Bank opens in it next time.

Select Show all articles to clear a search, a category or receipts. Select Map to see your wiki as a map: see Knowledge map. Directory lists every article by category, and Tags lists every tag.

Read an article

Select its title. The article shows its category, its tags and its text. Under Links are the web pages it mentions, and under Sources the originals it was built from. Select a tag to see every article with it.

Edit an article

  1. Select Edit.

  2. Change the Title, Category (or choose New category… to type a new one), Tags or Text. Separate tags with commas. The text is Markdown; the line under Text shows how to write bold, italics, headings, lists and links.

The buttons above Text write the Markdown for you: select some words, then select Bold, Italic, Heading, List, Link or Table. With nothing selected, they put in an example to type over. Select Bold or Italic again to take it off. Ctrl+B and Ctrl+I (⌘B and ⌘I on a Mac) work too, and Undo takes a change back. The box grows as you write.

  3. Select the Preview tab above the text to see it as it will look. Select Write to go back to the text.

  4. Select Save.

You see “Saved.” A curator never changes an article you’ve edited without asking you first: see Inbox.

See the history and bring back a version

  1. Select History.
  2. Each version shows who wrote it (you, or the curator and its model), why, and what it cost. Open its changes to see what it added (underlined) and removed (struck through).
  3. To bring back an older version, select Restore on it.

You see “Restored.” The restored text is added as a new version, so nothing in the history is lost.

Change the category of several articles

  1. Tick the box beside each article. Screen readers name each box “Select” and the article’s title.
  2. Open the Showing bar at the top. Under Change the category of the selected items, type the new category, or leave it empty to remove their category.
  3. Select Change Category.

You see, for example, “Category changed for 2 articles.”

Delete an article

  1. Select Delete.
  2. Select Delete again to confirm.

The article and its history are deleted. This can’t be undone. Its sources stay.

Link an article to other items

Under Linked to, select Link… to link an article to a project, a pillar or anything else. See Linking items.

Who can do this

Every member of the space. A Global Admin can’t see your wiki.

If something goes wrong

  • “Give the article a title, and at most 10 tags.” The title is empty, or there are more than 10 tags.
  • “The preview didn’t load. Please try again.” Check your connection, then select Write and Preview again.
  • “Select at least one article first.” Tick the articles to change before selecting Change Category.
  • “This article wasn’t found.” It was deleted, or it belongs to another space.
