Journal
The journal holds your entries by day, newest first. It shows the last four weeks; select Show Earlier Entries at the foot of the list for four more each time. The days scroll in their own box. Each entry has a date, a time, a title, an optional category, and the entry itself. Entries are encrypted, and only the members of your space can see them.
To open it, select Workspace on your dashboard, then Journal.
Add an entry
- Type a title in the box at the top.
- Choose a category if you want one. New categories are made on the entry itself.
- Select Add.
You see “Added.” The entry is dated now and listed under today.
Write an entry
- Select the entry’s title.
- Change the Date and Time if you need to.
- Choose a Category if you want one. To make a new one, choose New category… and type it in New category, such as “Work”.
- Write in Entry. It’s Markdown: the buttons above it add bold, italics, headings, lists, links and tables, and Preview shows how it will look.
- Select Save.
Keep writing without a signal
If you select Add with no connection, you see “Saved on this device. It will be added when you’re back online.” The entry waits under Waiting to be added, and is added by itself when the connection returns, or the next time you open the journal.
On an entry, while you type, the entry is kept on your device. If you select Save with no connection, you see “Saved on this device. It will save when you’re back online.” Keep the page open: it saves when the connection returns.
If you leave an entry without saving, the next time you open it you see “You have changes to this entry that weren’t saved.” Select Use Draft to carry on from them, or Discard Draft to keep what was saved.
Find an entry
Search and the filters are folded under Showing, which says what you’re looking at, such as “Last 4 weeks · All categories”. A search, or From and To dates, looks through every entry, not just the last four weeks. Select Showing to open it. It stays as you left it until you close the tab.
- Type words in Search and select Search. It looks in titles, entries and categories, and ignores capitals and macrons: “maori” finds “Māori”.
- Or choose From and To dates or a Category, and select Show.
Select Show all entries to go back to every entry.
Change an entry
- Select the entry.
- Change what you need.
- Select Save.
You see “Saved.” To remove it, select Delete, then Delete again to confirm.
Link an entry to other items
Under Linked to, select Link… to link an entry to a project, a pillar or anything else. See Linking items.
Who can do this
Every member of the space. A Global Admin can’t see your journal.
If something goes wrong
- “Give the entry a title, a date and a time.” One of them is empty.
- “That didn’t save. Please try again.” Check your connection, then select Save again.
- “This entry wasn’t found.” It was deleted, or it belongs to another space.
