Access tokens
An access token lets a script, or an AI assistant, read or change your todos, journal, Inbox, wiki or sources through the Brain Supply API. Each token can reach only what you choose, and stops working when it expires or when you revoke it. An AI that connects with a connector, such as Claude, connects a different way, but its connection is listed here too: see Connect an AI.
The tokens are on your Account page, under Access tokens. To open it, choose Main menu, then Account.
Create a token
- Select Create Token.
- In Name, type what the token is for, such as “My script”.
- Under Can reach, tick each of Todos, Journal, Inbox, Wiki and Sources it needs.
- Under Access, choose Read only or Read and write.
- In Expires after, choose 30, 90 or 365 days.
- Select Create.
- Select Copy, and paste the token where your script or assistant keeps it.
- Select Done.
The token is shown only once. If you lose it, revoke it and create a new one.
You get an email whenever a token is created or revoked. The email names the token but never contains it.
Revoke a token
- Find the token in the list. Each shows what it can reach, when it expires, and when it was last used.
- Select Revoke.
- Select Revoke again to confirm.
It stops working on its next use.
Who can do this
Anyone signed in, for their own tokens, in the space they have open. A token can only reach that space, and only while you’re still a member of it. Nobody else, including a Global Admin, can see or use your tokens.
If something goes wrong
- “Give the token a name and choose at least one thing it can reach.” Type a name, and tick at least one thing under Can reach.
- “The token wasn’t created. Please try again.” Check your connection, then select Create again.
- A script says its token is refused: the token may have expired or been revoked. Its row says Expired or Revoked. Create a new one.
